A lasting memory of Hans Op de Beeck's unique installations at KMSKA

In Nocturnal Journey, visual artist Hans Op de Beeck (1969) invites us on an extraordinary walk through a desolate, mysterious landscape. His monochrome grey sculptures seem covered in ash, as if frozen in time.

The works make the viewer dwell on the poetry of the everyday, unguarded moment. But there is more to it. Behind the serene beauty lurks an enigmatic, dark atmosphere of imminent derailment. The hushed images of characters, still lifes, objects, animals, nature, and architecture combine to form an alienating, surreal world.

Thanks to the haunting photographs of room views, life-size artworks and details, everyone can experience the unique atmosphere of this Nocturnal Journey over and over again.
